Limmud Oz is returning to Melbourne this September

In 2020 and 2021 we learned the importance of real human interaction and community. So we’re over the moon that Limmud Oz is back in person in 2022, in Melbourne! For a change, this year’s Limmud will be taking place On 3 and 4 September. There you can laugh and learn with some of the best performers and educators Australia and the world has to offer, in the same room as them! Jewish thought leaders from around the world will also be joining us in person once again*.

*While we are hopeful that a Zoom stream will be available, this is not yet confirmed. If and when this becomes a possibility, we will let you know.

Limmud’s Covid policy

Given that the third Omicron wave of COVID 19 is expected to peak in August 2022[1], the organisers of Limmud aim to reduce the impact of COVID spread through the implementation of the following measures:

  • There will be air purifiers in every lecture room (sometimes 2 or 3 in larger rooms).

  • Windows will remain open in all classrooms to allow for ventilation.

  • Where possible, seating will be spaced out to allow for appropriate social distancing.

  • Hand sanitising stations will be present at points of entry as well as all food and beverage stations.

  • Masks will be available for those who need them.

  • Mask wearing is strongly encouraged.

We urge all participants to err on the side of caution and not attend if they are feeling unwell, or if they have been in direct contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID 19.

Every attendant who wears a mask covering their nose and mouth will be helping to protect the more vulnerable members of our community, as well as our hard-working front-line health care workers.

With the well-being of our community and the values of tikkun olam in mind, we encourage all to partake in a safe and healthy learning environment.

What lies in between

Limmud Oz is excited to share with you an online exhibition created and curated by emerging Jewish Australian artists.

What lies In Between is a collaborative, virtual project between 6 Australian artists. A project like never before, based on circumstance and chance. Tunni is currently based in Tel Aviv, Tal is from Perth, Yossi from Sydney, and Ike, Ariella and Tamar from Melbourne. Together we placed large emphasis on virtual process. Through online zoom meetings, emails, whatsapp messages, instagram messages, and phone calls, this process began the unfolding of the potential of what this project could really mean. What lies in between the inception of the project and the final outcome, we think, is the most important part of this project.

The artist's embarked on a month long journey, forwarding images of our work to each other, giving permission to hijack, chop, add, subtract, invert each others work, to allow the explosion of new work. We are trusting the process, and very interesting things are unfolding....We began to ask questions of what is this space we are creating? what is the space which lies in between all of us? What is tying and holding us all together? Stay tuned, we look forward to sharing this project we have been brewing.
